What is blue carbon?
Blue carbon refers to the carbon captured and stored by coastal and marine ecosystems, mainly mangroves, seagrass meadows and tidal wetlands. These ecosystems sequester carbon at rates many times higher than tropical forests, while also protecting coastlines and sustaining local fisheries and livelihoods.
What does Twende Green Planet actually do?
We restore mangrove and coastal ecosystems on Kenya’s coast, run a six-month Training-of-Trainers programme in coastal enterprises and climate-smart cash crops, are gearing towards adopting highland and catchment forest with Kenya Forest Service, convene Africa’s civil-society and development ecosystem through The Global NGO Stakeholders Summit, and provide technical advisory on high-integrity carbon markets. Where does Twende Green Planet work?
We are an African organisation, registered and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with our restoration work concentrated on Kenya’s coast. Twende Green Planet’s mandate extends across the whole of Africa, though, a reach that shows up most clearly through The Global NGO Stakeholders Summit and the partnerships it convenes continent-wide.

Do you buy or sell carbon credits?
No. Twende Green Planet provides technical and partnership advisory on Africa’s carbon markets through our Blue Carbon Advisory & Consultancy programme; we do not currently operate as a credit trading intermediary.
Is Twende Green Planet a registered organisation?
Yes. Twende Green Planet is a fully registered African social enterprise, with its own organisational bank account, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
What is The Global NGO Stakeholders Summit?
The Global NGO Stakeholders Summit is Twende Green Planet’s flagship Pan-African convening platform, bringing together government, civil society, development partners and the private sector. It was held for the first time in June 2026, in Nairobi.
