Our Work

Six Real Programmes, One Blue Carbon Mission

what we do

Our Blue Carbon Work

Twende Green Planet runs six real programmes across Kenya’s coast and highlands: mangrove and seagrass restoration, highland forest restoration, coastal enterprise and cash-crop training, technical carbon-markets advisory, and the Pan-African convening work of The Global NGO Stakeholders Summit. Together they advance UN SDGs 13, 14 and 15, and align with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision for environmentally sustainable, climate-resilient economies and a sustainable blue economy. This is also the same coast that hosted the first Our Ocean Conference held on African soil, in Mombasa in June 2026, where blue carbon and nature-based solutions were named among Africa’s top ocean priorities. Explore each programme below, or get in touch to support one directly.

Research, Science & MRV

Highland & Catchment Forest Restoration

Adopting a section of Kenya’s highland forest with the Kenya Forest Service — gearing towards our next restoration commitment.

Coastal Ecosystem Restoration

Restoring Kenya’s mangrove, tidal wetland and coastal ecosystems using the same community-ownership model behind Gazi Bay’s Mikoko Pamoja.

Seagrass Restoration

Restoring seagrass meadows on Kenya’s coast — carbon-dense, fish-nursery habitat that recovers slowly and needs deliberate protection.

Mangrove Nursery & Seedling Care

Community-run mangrove nurseries producing healthy, restoration-ready seedlings — the first link in every mangrove restoration site.

Coastal Enterprise & Cash Crop Trainers Programme

A six-month training-of-trainers programme in coastal enterprises and climate-smart cash crops, delivered with KALRO agronomists.

Mangrove Restoration

On-the-ground mangrove planting and stewardship along Kenya’s coast, built on the Mikoko Pamoja community model.

Blue Carbon Advisory & Consultancy

Technical and partnership advisory helping organisations and investors navigate Africa’s blue carbon and carbon-markets space responsibly.
